This popular cake was named after the Warsaw W-Z road (Trasa Wschód-Zachód , that is East-West Road). One of the pastry shops located in the proximity of the road used to make and sell this kind of cake.
There are several varieties of wuzetka, but the cake consists mostly of cocoa sponge cake, jam, cream and chocolate icing.

Our recipe:
Mix 125 g of margarine, 2 cups of sugar, 3 tablespoons of cocoa and 2 eggs in a food processor. Add 4 cups of flour, 2 cups of milk and a teaspoon of baking soda. Mix thoroughly and pour into a flat baking pan. Bake for about 40 minutes at a moderate temperature. Leave to cool and cut in halves. Moisten the bottom half with punch and spread black currant jam on one side of both halves and cream in between the two layers of cake.

The icing: melt 100g of margarine in a pan, add a cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of cocoa and 4 tablespoons of water. Boil for 4 minutes. Leave to cool and pour over the cake. Cut into pieces after the icing has set and decorate with chocolate flakes and whipped cream.
